Description:

The Argus Observer has an exciting opportunity for a reporter who likes to do it all.

This award-winning Argus Observer newspaper in Ontario, Oregon, is community journalism at its best, covering everything from the county fair to the city council. If you’re a reporter who enjoys every part of the profession, from writing to photography to layout, we want to hear from you.

About you: You work well independently and see newspapers as an integral part of their communities. You can interview everyone from police chiefs to kindergarten students. You’re curious about the world around you and want to help a community tell its story. You’re fluent in AP Style, thrive on deadlines and are committed to using a variety of media — including social — to tell stories.

In addition to writing for the The Argus Observer, the reporter in this position contributes to regular special sections and projects, including the bimonthly Western Treasure Valley Magazine and semiannual Snake River Outdoors magazine, and works with reporters on our sister publication Independent-Enterprise in Payette, Idaho, to cover the entire Western Treasure Valley. It’s a busy position but a rewarding one.

As part of Wick Communications, we offer a competitive package of pay and benefits, including medical, dental and 401(k). We are an equal opportunity employer.

Interested? Send a cover letter, resume and no more than five clips to editor Leslie Thompson at lesliet@argusobserver.com or to 1160 S.W. Fourth St., Ontario, OR 97914.
