The Oldham Era, a 4,000 circulation weekly newspaper, is seeking an innovative, energetic and integrity driven reporter to join its team in Oldham County. The successful candidate will be a multi-talented reporter, writer, photographer and page designer. We're looking for someone who is driven by both curiosity and breaking news. Oldham County is located adjacent to Jefferson County, home of Louisville.   • Bachelor's degree in journalism preferred
  • Strong reporting, researching, interviewing and writing skills
  • Proficiency in photography
  • Page design and layout experience preferred in InDesign
  • Competency in AP style with good grammar, spelling and punctuation skills required
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge and interest in social media
  • Must have a vehicle to travel to assignments; valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance must be provided


  • Develop timely, relevant, compelling, concise news stories including correct spelling, grammar and AP Style.
  • Take photographs as assigned and use Photoshop.
  • Cover assigned beats, including evening meetings, spot news and some weekend events.
  • Design and layout pages using InDesign.
  • Function in a team atmosphere.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Serve as positive liaison with the public and represent The Oldham Era at community events.


The position of reporter requires 40 hours a week, including night, weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
