Sinclair Broadcast Group's Social Media Team helps empower our newsrooms across the country to provide their communities with award-winning journalism through innovative use of social media. We help craft strategies for stations and journalists to win in their market every day. We’re looking for a Social Media Analyst who has a passion for data and local journalism.

Ideal candidates have a passion for working with and training local journalists on effective social media strategies and will have the analytics and data-driven insights to support those recommendations. The Social Media Analyst needs a deep understanding of performance metrics and proven experience driving success and finding new social media growth opportunities through data analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the key point of contact for all things involving social media measurement
  • Provide weekly and monthly company-wide social media performance metrics to key stakeholders
  • Help determine social media metric benchmarks and goals for our newsrooms and talent
  • Work with our digital sales organization on identifying measurement opportunities for social media campaigns pre- and post-sale
  • Help manage our relationships with our newsrooms through regular communication about social media performance
  • Identify daily and weekly content trends (internally and externally), to share with our National Desk and all newsrooms at large to jump on key story trends and maximize consumption).
  • Author educational curriculum for measurement, to help our newsrooms self-measure
  • Assist news and digital content properties with the growth and development of their social media accounts by delivering consultations, evaluations, recommendations, and trainings on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media channels.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of social media measurement experience, preferably in an editorial context
  • Deep understanding of social media analytics, including Facebook Insights, CrowdTangle and Twitter Metrics
  • Positivity, creativity, and a passion for collaboration in a team environment and a passion for customer service
  • Strong, effective communicator (both verbally and in writing)
  • Patience and passion to teach others and help them learn
  • Passion and appreciation for local journalism and breaking news
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Proficient in Google Analytics
  • Basic knowledge of content management systems (CMS)
  • Basic knowledge of data visualization tools (i.e. Looker, Tableau) preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
