The Beaumont Enterprise seeks a web producer to increase traffic and reach by extending and freshening the site into the user-active evening hours, updating breaking news and coordinating reporters. Other responsibilities will include distribution and social media engagement, slideshows, lists and data, and some technical work. This position reports news and creates visuals to tell stories that will be syndicated across a national network of Hearst websites. 


  • Curate and aggregate a steady stream of interesting content that is packaged and promoted in a way that generates interest.
  • Monitor all forms of media (print, TV, digital, blogs and social) and be the first to report breaking news stories and always on the hunt for exclusive and or trending content that will drive traffic.
  • Excellent at writing headlines that grow audience and engagement, and packaging content that grows page views per visitor and time on site.
  • Understand different ways to tell a story, including with short videos and great photos.
  • Evaluate website traffic trends in an effort to make decisions on both daily content and longer-term content development that will grow local traffic.
  • Develop user-generated content – from comments, blogs and forums to photos and video – to create interactive digital packages that can be promoted in print and digital media.
  • Promote and distribute news content on social media.
  • Build positive working relationships with newsroom staff and management.


  • 3 years’ experience in digital media and journalism.
  • Clever headline writer that gets readers to click.
  • Organized, technical problem solver and quick decision maker.
  • Capable of researching, interviewing and writing original news articles.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Enjoys working in teams and has excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ease with/ability to learn new technology independently and quickly.
  • Comfortable adapting to changes in evolving industry and thrives under pressure.
  • Schedule flexibility (nights, weekends).
  • Some driving and travel.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; HTML, CSS and Photoshop experience a plus.
