The Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel are seeking a full-time copy editor and web producer for the two papers and This person will be responsible for creating crisp and engaging page designs; writing accurate and compelling headlines; curating content for the website and promoting that content on social media channels; and setting and changing priorities when handling breaking news and making deadline. The copy editor and web producer must also demonstrate good news judgment, strong copy editing skills, proficiency with Associated Press style and thorough knowledge of local, state and national news. The ideal candidate will have experience with WordPress, InDesign and InCopy, knowledge of basic HTML coding, and proficiency with Photoshop. You must have at least three years of professional experience at a daily news organization and a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field, although exceptions could be considered for the right candidate. Applicants should expect to work nights, with some weekend and holiday shifts.
