WLUK FOX 11 has an immediate full-time opening for Assistant Production Manager. The Assistant Production Manager supervises the morning News Production Team and works to lead them through the production of our 4.5-hour block of “Good Day Wisconsin” newscasts.

Expectations include working to maintain a strong level of daily communication and collaboration between producers, talent, and the News Production Team. This starts with pre-show planning through participation in the daily 3:45am morning news meeting, noting needs and communicating them to directors and crew, then following up to help coordinate and make sure needs are met. This also includes providing guidance and being available to help the morning News Production team with set-ups for special segments that include use of props, special audio, or require special lighting needs, tuning in satellite feeds, troubleshooting equipment issues, and filling in at various production positions when required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and management of news production personnel
  • Supervise and assign duties to news production personnel working early morning shift
  • Creation of the weekly work schedule for news production personnel
  • Assist in the evaluation of news production personnel
  • Become familiar with all studio & control room equipment and systems; help oversee training.
  • Become familiar with all studio and control room positions; fill in when required
  • Assist with management of program material, including recording feeds, creating timing sheets, and helping to maintain archive of locally produced programs. This includes checking shows to ensure they meet closed captioning, loudness level, and other important standards.
  • Perform as producer-director for special projects, assist with remote production, and other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Working knowledge of industry related software.
  • Ability to operate and/or understand the operation of a variety of video, graphic and audio equipment
  • Strong verbal skills with the ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to make sound decisions when working under pressure
  • Must maintain a good driving record and valid Wisconsin driver's license

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent, or two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
