Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty is looking for a full-time correspondent in Central Asia with excellent reporting and writing skills, a great eye for a story, and a strong background in the region. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious journalist to reach a broad regional and international audience. You’ll pitch and deliver original stories -- sometimes in collaboration with local RFE/RL correspondents – that give readers of www.rferl.org a window into an under-reported region. You’ll be based in Bishkek, Almaty, or Dushanbe (or elsewhere -- we’re flexible) with ample opportunity for travel within the region. This is a freelance position, paying a competitive monthly retainer. (You can keep other strings, within reason.) Fluency in Russian a must; local languages a definite plus. Video and photo experience desired.

We’re looking for:

  • Proven track record as an excellent reporter/writer
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Fluency in Russian

Interested? Send your CV and a cover letter in English to moorek@rferl.org , including in the subject line the vacancy number as above.
