SUCCESS magazine seeks a dynamic Integrated Content Editor to deliver inspirational and entrepreneurial editorial content to an enthusiastic magazine and SUCCESS.com audience. Duties include pitching, assigning, writing and editing articles for the monthly print magazine. This position also monitors feedback from readers, manages freelancers and contributors, pushing stories through the assignment, editing, photo selection, headline and SEO phases. The Integrated Content Editor coordinates the web integration of all print content and works alongside the marketing team to create newsletters, swipe copy and social blasts to increase traffic. The position is also responsible for finding, testing and implementation of new tools to drive traffic and increase user engagement. These duties are part of our team’s convergent content strategy of creating compelling content and products for a growing national online media company based in Dallas.

*This is a full-time position on site in our west Plano office. Telecommuters will not be considered. Relocation assistance is not provided.

The Integrated Content Editor is primarily responsible for:

  • Writing for SUCCESS and for SUCCESS.com, working directly with senior editors to improve editorial skills.
  • Assigning stories and managing and editing the work of freelance contributors.
  • Facilitating the responsibilities of the rest of the print and online staff by performing administrative duties and journalistic due diligence (i.e. research, fact-checking and photo crediting).
  • Collect and curate content for weekly SUCCESS  content-based newsletters
  • Assist Digital Managing Editor with web content “first edits”—doing an initial content and clarity edit.
  • Stay abreast of entrepreneurship, business and personal-development books, authors, experts and themes.
  • Research and generate ideas for article topics, packaging and design treatments.
  • Manage story pitches by public relations professionals.

The candidate must possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree, in media-related discipline, including mass communications, digital media, journalism
  • 1-3 years’ experience in journalistic writing for a media brand required.  Relevant experience working with an editorial publication’s digital team is strongly preferred. Internships and college publication experience count as experience and are encouraged.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including strong proofreading skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated writing style
  • Command of AP style
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Team-first mentality
  • Understanding of the objectives for content-based sites (produce great content, increase content, drive conversions)
