General Objective: The St. Louis Jewish Light seeks a visionary individual who can guide the organization to the next level of its development and ensure its editorial and financial success. The executive director will be responsible for the overall operation of the organization, including financial and budgetary oversight; managing and overseeing all aspects of content throughout various platforms; production; administration; governance; advertising; circulation/distribution; and development.

Position description: The Executive Director is responsible for managing the organization in accordance with the bylaws, policies, and procedures approved by the Board of Trustees. The Executive Director acts as the community liaison for the organization, meeting and collaborating where appropriate with professional leadership throughout the Jewish community and representing the St. Louis Jewish Light within the community. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the implementation of a multi-faceted development program to meet the annual funding needs of the St. Louis Jewish Light and which addresses the long-term financial goals of the organization, including cultivation of relationships with donors.  The Executive Director reports to the President of the Board of Trustees and is accountable to the Board of Trustees. 

Qualifications:  Leadership, management, and communications skills are critical.  Bachelor’s degree (minimum), at least five years supervisory experience and prior budgetary experience is preferable. Must be highly organized, with capacity to establish efficient, productive, and motivating relationships with staff and volunteers. Familiarity with St. Louis Jewish community is helpful. Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a professional appearance is essential. Experience with or understanding of multiple platforms for journalism are highly advantageous, as are experience with development, marketing, or fundraising. Ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
