The Missouri Times is looking to add a full-time Capitol-based statehouse reporter for immediate hire.

Reporters are all required to follow day-to-day state politics and policy and write about it efficiently, effectively, and accurately. Statehouse reporters will report from Missouri's beautiful Capitol building throughout the legislative session and as news requires. Reporters will also contribute to the Missouri Times Magazine and television show This Week in Missouri Politics. Our subscribers demand a quick and close look at how the government is operating and what is going on in politics.

All staff must be resourceful, attentive to detail, and be passionate about Missouri politics. 


  • Writing quickly in traditional journalistic style
  • Finding interesting angles
  • Straight reporting and feature writing
  • Self-editing
  • Copyediting
  • Social media distribution
  • Working independently, while being resourceful and respectful of company standards


  • Experience in Missouri politics, whether reporting or staffing
  • Comprehension of government and politics
  • Enjoy networking
  • Photography
  • Multimedia production
