Broad knowledge of activities in Central New York, including news, sports, and entertainment is a plus.
 
To be a good fit for this opportunity, you will need to have:

    A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or a related field.
    A minimum of one to two years of journalism experience with a proven ability in managing social media accounts across a variety of platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
    Familiarity with audience engagement metrics across platforms and an ability to translate them into actionable data.
    Proven experience building, maintaining and engaging an active online audience.
    The ability to multitask, work independently under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks.
    Demonstrated writing and organizational skills.
    Solid understanding of the news industry and local market.
    Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
    The ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, to provide 24/7/365 media coverage.
    Familiarity with website production and basic video editing a plus.

The role:
As the Social Media Producer reporting to the Social Media Lead and Director of Digital Operations, you will be responsible for ensuring that our social media accounts and mobile platforms showcase the best content available, and that they are in sync with audience interest. You'll leverage your proven news, sports and entertainment judgment to decide which items to promote, and to respond rapidly to breaking news. You will also use content and audience metrics to drive decision-making.  You will need to be flexible and willing to assist with other tasks, including website management and user engagement.
