The Baltimore Sun seeks a multimedia journalist curious about technology and its role in creating user experiences to join the newsroom’s audience engagement team. As a community coordinator you will help form the eyes and ears of our digital-first newsroom, responsible for anticipating and adapting to audience behaviors, both over the course of the daily news cycle, and long-term. A core function is to deepen engagement with trending stories through supplemental production, writing, and reporting. It could be as simple as adding a map. It could be as involved as recording and mixing an entire podcast. You will also play a lead role in advancing the newsroom’s user-generated content efforts, tapping existing user interactions and nurturing new ones to inform other reporting or stand on its own. Other duties include helping run social media accounts, responding to user feedback, tracking analytics and assisting with web and audio production.

This position requires early morning and some weekend hours. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume and work samples to Steve Earley (
