The Daily Business Review is seeking a detail-oriented journalist with strong news judgment to join our news organization as the Interactivity/Multimedia Editor. This editor will work with senior and mid-level content editors, with reporters and at times with outside contributors to create multimedia content for DailyBusinessReview.com. The editor will help shape and maintain the Web site, the DBR’s social media and interactivity efforts and newsletters, and serve as an important role player with other editors in audience development.
This editor should be a specialist and technician with knowledge of how to measure, understand and respond to reader habits and preferences on the Web. The editor should also have the capacity to learn and deal with content concerning the legal system, real estate and finance in South Florida. The person should demonstrate a high capacity for quickly attacking production problems, evaluating conversion opportunities from print to Web and working easily with reporters and editors and outside contributors on a daily basis. This editor should count on becoming an integral player in the DBR’s daily production cycle and in special editorial projects.
The duties include:
1) Working with Web analytics, teaming with senior and midlevel content editors in shaping audience development strategies, measuring Web site traffic including story and page views to assess reader preferences and ensuing coverage opportunities. Throughout, this editor should be sensitive to the organization’s Search Engine Optimization needs. 2) Working with reporters and editors in planning and producing multi-media features, including audio podcasts, video reports and interactive graphics. 3) Helping to drive and implement the DBR’s interactive content, including Web polls, chats, live streaming and Webinars. 4) Expanding the DBR’s social media network and helping devise the organization’s strategy for social media, including sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. 5) Helping to develop blogs and e-mail newsletters. 6) Assisting and collaborating with the Web site editor in the updating of DBR web sites to highlight breaking news and discussions with the public. 7) Aiding in the creation and maintenance of utilitarian information, especially for the legal segment, including (but not limited to) more substantive law information, blogs, newsletters, judicial profiles, and analysis. 8) Help develop DBR's mobile strategy and deliver content to mobile devices.
The editor should have a background in reporting, experience with audio/video editing, HTML and social media. The person should have an ability to quickly learn and adapt to the DBR’s Adobe-based content management system (InCopy). At least three years of experience in online and social media operations and development for a print publication or new media preferred.
