Description:
The Chronicle is a 30,000 daily with a community focus. We paginate using the PC-based ACT Editorial system for file management, MS Word for stories, Quark Xpress for pages, Photoshop on Macs for images. The news desk works afternoons and evenings, wrapping up by 10:30 p.m. unless we have late-breaking news. The eight-member team work split weekend shifts, either Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday. In addition to the news section, the team is responsible for weekly feature sections and some monthly special sections, plus processing e-mail from our readers.

Our largest readership demographic is retirees, although this is shifting somewhat as families move in to fill jobs in the service and eco-tourism industries.
