Editorial Assistant

Salary:  $25,000 to $30,000



We are looking for a dynamic new Editorial Assistant to join our team. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the editorial departments of The CPA Journal, a business publication; The Trusted Professional, a monthly financial news publication; and NextGen, a quarterly career development magazine for young professionals. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contribute bylined articles

• Compile, edit and format event listings for publication

• Ensure that articles comply with the AP Stylebook or Chicago Manual of Style, depending on the publication

• Solicit manuscripts and new authors

• Participate in editorial meetings

• Help manage the organization’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Flickr

• Update the department’s database of authors and editorial board members

• Log incoming submissions, process reviews and communications with reviewers and communicate decisions to authors 
• Provide staff support to one or more Society committees 

Knowledge and Skills:

• Requires a B.A. or B.S. in journalism, communications, or publishing 
• Knowledge of the business environment and business issues is a plus
• Excellent writing and editing skills (Please provide several published samples of your work.)
• Experience in Microsoft Office applications and general Internet usage for online research; a working knowledge of InDesign and Adobe Photoshop is a plus
