We're seeking a versatile community journalist with a nose for news to cover the people, places, issues and events of a small town steeped in Southern charm. The Cheraw Chronicle, a weekly newspaper in Cheraw, S.C., is looking for a full-time reporter and photographer. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and a jack of all journalistic trades who's as comfortable behind a camera as in front of a keyboard. This reporter will work independently and must be able to enterprise, prioritize and plan stories. Newspaper experience is required, along with a positive attitude, a natural curiosity and a heart for community news.

The Chronicle is based in Cheraw, a 5,800-population town in South Carolina's northeastern midlands. It's 90 minutes away from Columbia and Charlotte, N.C., and boasts rich Native American history, a thriving theater and arts scene and a state park with an 18-hole golf course and a 300-acre lake. The newspaper is 125 years old and a fixture in the community.
