Company: Molokai Dispatch, Inc
Reporting Intern
Kaunakakai, Hawaii
Job Status:  Not Specified
Salary:  Not Specified

Molokai’s only newspaper has a September opening for a reporting intern. We are looking for recent journalism grads for this once-in-a-lifetime experience to live and work within the close-knit island community of Molokai, Hawaii. The work you will do will directly impact the lives of the people around you, and you will gain valuable experience in the field, reporting on a wide variety of beats at this award-winning weekly.

This position requires a six-month commitment, beginning in September, 2014. To apply, you must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism and previous experience in newspapers or other publications. Experience in photography and multi-media production is a plus. We’re also looking for someone with sensitivity to minority and cultural issues, an outgoing personality and the ability to “tough it out” in challenging situations, and a strong sense of responsibility and journalistic ethics. This is NOT a vacation or adventure -- it is an opportunity to work in journalism and make a positive difference in our small community.

This full time internship is unpaid, but we do offer a $40 per week food stipend, housing, shared transportation, flexible time off and a resume boost that has been successful for many of our past interns. You are responsible for your own transportation to and from Molokai, and must be financially able to provide for your own daily living expenses.
