Company: St. Peter Herald
Position:
Seeking Ace Reporter
Location:
St. Peter, Minnesota
Job Status:  Full-time
Salary:  Negotiable
Website: http://www.southernminn.com/st_peter_herald/

Description:

St. Peter has a little bit of everything.

Situated alongside the Minnesota River, it’s a picturesque college town just minutes from Mankato. But while it’s a growing community, and the Nicollet County seat, it’s still small enough to feel like home.

The St. Peter Herald is looking for a full-time reporter who’s equally adept at news and feature writing but knows the ins and outs of social media.

The ideal candidate is comfortable crafting compelling tales, analyzing documents and covering community festivals.

The Herald is a weekly publication, but maintains a 24/7 web presence, located 20 minutes north of Mankato and an hour south of the Twin Cities.

The successful applicant will have insatiable curiosity, an excellent grasp of open records/meeting law and a demonstrated knowledge of how multimedia enhances reporting. Reporters who thrive on reactive, institutional stories need not apply.

The Herald is part of APG Media of Southern Minnesota, LLC, a division of family-owned Adams Publishing Group, with 10 community newspapers, 17 websites, shopping guides, magazines, a digital agency and commercial printing facility in southern Minnesota. Its newspapers are aggressive, watchdog-oriented papers with newsrooms full of talent. Adams Publishing Group also owns newspapers in northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio and Maryland as well as other media and non-media operations.

Benefits include health insurance, vacation and 401k.

Email your resume, cover letter and no more than five of your best clips to Managing Editor Suzy Rook at srook@stpeterherald.com by July 17.
