The Hobbs News-Sun is looking for a general assignment reporter who will be assigned beats such as courts, government and education. We want someone who can cover it all and appreciates community journalism. We want to hire someone who can walk into a meeting and walk out with a story -- and an idea for two or three more. All of our journalists are beat reporters who branch out to cover many other areas as well. Enterprise and feature stories are encouraged. Our reporters gain experience and the knowledge to cover just about everything. Our newspaper covers five towns. The News-Sun is an award-winning newspaper and is not afraid to cover what needs to be reported. Hobbs is a community of about 43,000 in the oil capital of sunny southeastern New Mexico. Hobbs is a dynamic community with an expanding population, new growth in housing and businesses. The News-Sun's circulation is 10,500, six days a week.
