The work is primarly a nighttime job supervising production of the daily local news report.

Scope: Editors interact with people in every part of newsroom as well as with key staff members in other departments at the newspaper. They must also be connected with members of the community and news sources.

Principal Functions Essential To The Job: Edits content §Oversee team members to create quality stories and content. §Work with photographers, artists, layout to ensure that stories are presented well. §Edit stories for accuracy, fairness, balance. §Create new local content for multiple platforms. §Ensure local content is posted/published to all platforms immediately or by deadline. §Work with freelance contributors and user-contributed copy to coordinate the inclusion of content from other sources in products. Innovate products and processes §Initiates and/or encourages implementation of innovative ideas for products and/or services. §Draws upon diverse sources to generate ideas for innovative approaches to new or existing products. §Takes and encourages others to take smart risks. §Initiates and/or implements process improvements within teams or work groups. §Communicates effectively about proposed process changes with key stakeholders. §Implements broader departmental plans, goals and strategy.
