The Daily Republic, a six-day daily newspaper in Mitchell, S.D., seeks a photographer/digital media specialist for an immediate opening.

We are looking for an ambitious photojournalist who can produce compelling images for our print and online products. Candidates must have excellent digital photography skills and be proficient in Photoshop. They should also know AP style and have basic video editing skills. Newswriting skills would be a plus, and a journalism or mass communications degree is preferred.

The Daily Republic has been judged the top South Dakota newspaper of its size each of the past five years by the South Dakota Newspaper Association's Better Newspapers Contest. The print version of The Daily Republic circulates to 10,500 locations in a 17-county area, and the online version attracts about 70,000 people per month. We have a cabinet full of photo equipment for our staff, with the best camera reserved for the photographer. Photo assignments run the gamut and include breaking news events, weather, feature portraits, sports and much more.
