Description:
The Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) is one of the nation’s most dynamic and successful local land trusts, and over its 32-year history has protected more than 63,000 acres of open space along the Skyline Ridge, the San Francisco Peninsula, the Santa Cruz Mountain range and along the San Mateo County coast.

We are seeking an energetic team player to implement various aspects of POST’s communications program under the direction of the Director of Communications. This position will focus on coordinating writing, editing, approvals and production of POST publications and select marketing materials, as well as providing essential public relations and administrative support. This is a part-time position at 50% time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Manages production of keystone POST donor publications Landscapes and The Council Circle under guidance from Director of Communications.

• Creates and manages the production of POST marketing materials and other collateral as needed.

• Working with Advancement staff, writes and edits fundraising proposals, letters, brochures and other materials as needed.

• Provides public relations support by writing and distributing press releases, updating media list, and responding to POST general email inquiries as needed.

• Represents POST at events, including after hours, as needed.

• Provides budget support to Director of Communications as needed.

• Creates slide shows and other presentations for development, marketing, or communications purposes as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned. Assists Director of Communications as necessary.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

• Two to three years work experience preferably in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, advertising or a related field

• Professional writing and editing experience, including some news, features and marketing writing as well as publication production

• Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising or a demonstrated eagerness to learn preferred

• Outstanding project management skills

• Exceptional attention to accuracy and detail

• Ability to prioritize and effectively handle multiple tasks and deadlines

• Self-motivated individual willing to take direction and work collaboratively in a team setting

• Some knowledge of environmental issues, especially regarding land conservation, preferred

• Professional oral communication skills

• Professional appearance and demeanor

• Computer literacy, including experience with Word, Excel and navigating the Internet

• 4-year college degree

• Valid California Driver’s License
