TheLoop21.com, a growing online community that targets young urban professionals, is looking for a writer/editor to write commentary on public policy and economics issues to add to our team. The position is part-time, but has the potential to become full-time.

A little more about us: Our mission is to lead the debate on social and economic progress for people of color by producing thought-provoking, original content. We cover issues ranging from family to poverty, from education to entertainment, and from self-improvement to government policies. Our community is rich with interactive features that enable ordinary people from different perspectives to not only listen, but to be heard.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Strong interest in government policy, economics, and business is a must • Excellent writing skills a must • Ability to write in a conversational style for a young urban audience • Excellent researcher willing to produce well-researched stories • Intellectually curious with an instinct for asking interesting questions • A self-starter who is productive, enthusiastic, and willing to work independently • Experienced blogger who is familiar with social networking is strongly preferred • Familiarity with policy and economics sources is preferred • Economics or social science background is preferred but not necessary • At least 3-5 years experience is preferred
