Seeking experienced reporter
Location:
Shelton, Washington St.
Job Status:  Full-time
Salary:  $25,000 to $30,000
Ad Expires:
December 8, 2009
Job ID: 1118901

Description:
The newspaper of record in Mason County seeks an education reporter to cover one college, two high schools and more than a dozen middle and elementary schools that feed into them. Secondary reporting in the public utility district and feature writing go along with our education beat.

The Shelton-Mason County Journal is a stable and historic community weekly that holds its circulation at 10,000 and we own our own web press. The position is open now; a Pacific Northwest candidate with education experience of two years is preferred to join our staff of seven in the newsroom. Others with a journalism degree or equivalent and a minimum of two years as a staff reporter are also encouraged to apply. Knowing something about photography will help with all considerations. For a reporter, the list of stories to be done in this community is long and wide.

Shelton, Washington, is situated on Oakland Bay in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. Life is good here, with wilderness on one side and Seattle and Tacoma just one hour away.

Send cover letter, resume and five clips to managing editor Greg Skinner @ greg@masoncounty.com
