Transcript Editor

A Washington, D.C. news transcription company seeks an experienced editor to proof political transcripts. Position demands effective communication with and coordinating of people working from home, including feedback and oversight responsibilities. Strong transcription ability is also a requirement.

Requirements: - strong English skills and familiarity with the AP style - excellent listening skills - attention to detail and a strong “get the job done” work ethic - fast/efficient, able to work under sometimes severe time constraints - ability to interact effectively with and train people of various skill levels working from home

Pluses: - previous experience proofreading against audio - transcribing ability - familiarity with political figures (Congress, administration and foreign) - knowledge of current events and news sense

Located one block from Metro downtown. Pleasant business-casual work environment. Medical and vacation benefits provided. Salary increase offered at the end of a successful probationary/training period.
