Description:
This is a demanding and rewarding unpaid internship at AARP The Magazine, the largest-circulation magazine in the world. You must be a student to apply, as this position is offered for academic credit.

The intern will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the editorial production process from story idea to final article – and all the processes in between involving edit, research, layout, and art.

The intern should have a working knowledge of the publications editorial process and will write display copy (headlines, captions, etc.) and short items. In addition, the intern will organize reader responses, research article ideas, write summary reports, and aid editors in other editorial projects as needed.

Successful candidates will have strong writing and organizational skills, poise, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. Juniors, seniors, or graduate students in English, communications, journalism or multimedia preferred. Writing samples required. This is an unpaid position with a small stipend to offset commuting costs. Minimum time commitment is 2.5 workdays per week for the entire semester.
