Loyola Marymount University is seeking an Assistant Director for Communications and Media Relations. This position provides a challenging opportunity to work with other members of the Communications and Government Relations Department as a liaison with assigned colleges/schools, centers and divisions to manage external communications. This position will also work on general university affairs that involve issues management and crisis communications.

Located between the Pacific Ocean and downtown Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University is a Catholic University offering a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees. Founded in 1911, LMU is the largest Catholic university on the West Coast with nearly 5,500 undergraduate students and more than 3,000 graduate and law students. Students can choose from more than 80 majors and programs in four colleges, two schools and Loyola Law School. We seek candidates with typically a BA Degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of communication best practices. Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: media relations, Web editing, writing, crisis communications, marketing and project/relationship management. Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive strategic plans, reports and correspondence incorporating complex information are essential. Highly developed organizational and leadership skills. Demonstrated computer competency in Microsoft Office Suite software.
