The Lake Placid News, an award-winning weekly newspaper (circulation of 4,000) located in Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, is seeking a reporter to join its small staff to cover Lake Placid and the Olympic Region. Our communities enjoy four seasons of natural beauty that draws thousands of tourists and the region provides many outdoor recreation opportunities such as hiking, kayaking and canoeing, skiing, hunting and fishing to name just a few. The successful candidate should possess writing, photography and excellent communication skills and enjoy the outdoors. The job requires a flexible schedule and the ability to generate news stories as well as in-depth feature stories. Curiosity, initiative and responsibility are musts. Experience in the field of journalism and familiarity with the area are preferred. Knowledge of Quark and pagination experience a plus.
