Description:
The Free Press of Kinston, N.C., publisher of a 7-day AM of about 12,000 circulation and the area's dominant news Web site, seeks a general assignment reporter for a beat that includes crime and courts. The job will go to a good writer who can pursue a story with energy, passion and a commitment to accuracy. Experience/interest in video and other digital story-telling tools is a plus. At a minimum, applicants should have serious college and intern reporting experience. Kinston, a town of about 22,000 people in eastern North Carolina, is about an hour east of Raleigh and an hour west of the Atlantic Ocean. Preference will be given applicants in North Carolina and adjacent states.
