  Redefined Horizons is in the early stages of getting a new all-digital magazine focused 
  on Central California land use and land development off the ground. The company is willing to train the right person for work as a Research Journalist and Graphic Designer as part of a summer internship. The tasks completed during the summer internship will include: 
  •   Review and summaries of land use and land development articles in 
  •   local and national news sources.
  •   Review of the land planning meeting agendas for cities and counties in 
  •   Central California.
  •   Research and summary of state legislation or policies related to land 
  •   use and land development.
  •   Phone and e-mail interviews with land attorneys, land surveyors, land 
  •   developers, realtors, economists, city officials, and county officials.
  •   Article writing and editing.
  •   Graphic design and map design in Inkscape.
  •   Publication layout in Scribus.
  •   Online editing and publication in Wordpress.
  •   Marketing and subscriber promotion.
  •   Business development with clients and sponsors.
  The internship may result in the offer of a paid part-time position at the end of the summer. This will depend on the quality of work and work ethic shown during the internship.    

This position will result in publication of articles with the intern given credit as the author. The position will also provide some creative flexibility in selection and development of article topics. This is not an internship that involves menial labor or mundane tasks. The intern will play a key role in developing and producing media for the publication.
