A summer internship at the Orlando Sentinel will take you into the heart of the ultimate journalism class: a multiplatform newsroom where reporters and editors gather information in one of America's newsiest metropolitan areas, then present it online and in print.
The Sentinel works with journalism schools across the country in offering unpaid internships for academic credit in reporting, photography/videography and online producing. Summer internships are generally full time for eight weeks.
If you’ve completed basic journalism skills courses and you’ve had campus media experience, you’re ready to apply.
Students interning as reporters or photographers must have a car, a driver’s license and insurance. (You’ll be reimbursed for mileage, tolls and parking.) Photographers must have their own equipment.
To apply for the summer of 2014, please send a packet that includes: a letter describing your background and career goals; a resume with references; and at least seven clips. Photo candidates should submit a portfolio on CD, DVD or website with single pictures, a photo story and multimedia. CDs and DVDs should be viewable on both Windows and Mac computers.
