The Cape Cod Times, a mid-sized daily that strives for excellence, is seeking a spring or summer design intern for 2013. Our motivated, dedicated staff will welcome you onto the team, giving you opportunities for prominent work. We usually offer our interns news, features and business pages to design, as well as occasional sports pages. This year I expect to offer our intern many features design shifts in addition to news pages and am seeking a creative and promising designer.
A short training period will be followed by immersion into our daily life designing pages. Our intern can expect the opportunity to produce many good clips, including prominent section fronts.
The successful candidate should know InDesign and have solid and engaging design clips from a college newspaper or magazine. Photoshop and Illustrator skills are a bonus. Familiarity with AP style and headline writing is required.
This year our internship can begin as early as mid-April or as late as mid-June. The internship will last 10 weeks at $10 per hour. We have a 37.5-hour work week. Your shifts, whether day or night, weekday or weekend, will be set as your internship nears. You should expect variety in your schedule.
To apply, submit your resume, cover letter and 4-6 design clips by February 1st to Dhyana Sansoucie, Assistant Managing Editor. Electronic submission of application material is encouraged to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications may also be mailed to 319 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601.
